The Information Security Registered Assessors Program (IRAP) is a framework by the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC), a division of the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), to evaluate an organization’s security controls, ensuring alignment with Australian government security requisites. In August, Exabeam initiated the IRAP assessment process. Today, we’re thrilled to announce that Exabeam has completed an IRAP assessment at the PROTECTED level for the Exabeam Security Operations Platform.

We are excited about this opportunity to expand Exabeam capabilities to organizations and government agencies in Australia. The completion of an IRAP assessment illustrates our continuous dedication to delivering and maintaining AI-driven and cloud-native security operations solutions in accordance with the most exacting security benchmarks.

IRAP assessment: enhancing security for Australian government agencies

The IRAP assessment is structured to support the resilience of Australia’s critical infrastructure, aligning with the guidelines set out in the Information Security Manual (ISM) and the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF). The ISM serves as a cybersecurity framework for organizations, bolstering their cybersecurity posture against threats. These standards not only meet the requirements of Australian federal, state, and local governments, but also reassure private enterprises that Exabeam maintains the highest standards in the region.

The IRAP assessment process

IRAP’s role involves endorsing skilled assessors to independently evaluate cybersecurity postures, identify risks, and suggest mitigation measures. These assessors, endorsed by the ASD as cyber security professionals skilled in Australian Government cyber security requirements, bring extensive experience and qualifications in ICT, security assessment, and risk management, along with in-depth knowledge of the ASD’s Information Security Manual. An IRAP assessor conducted a comprehensive assessment of the Exabeam Security Operations Platform, against the stringent security requirements set by the Australian government. The successful completion of the IRAP assessment at the PROTECTED level is a testament to Exabeam’s adherence to the standards outlined in the ASD’s Information Security Manual.

Exabeam and IRAP

Exabeam is a global cybersecurity leader that helps organizations detect threats, defend against cyberattacks, and defeat adversaries.  The IRAP assessment process enables us to bolster our support for Australian government agencies in protecting their critical data and infrastructure.

It reflects our alignment with industry best practices and our data security and compliance commitment. Our cloud-native security information and event management (SIEM) solutions provide unparalleled security, compliance, and peace of mind, offering a strategic edge against cyber threats.

The Exabeam Security Operations Platform

The Exabeam Security Operations Platform delivers comprehensive threat detection, investigation, and response (TDIR) capabilities. Built on a cloud-scale architecture, Exabeam offers lightning-fast data ingestion, parsing, storage, and search capabilities. Machine learning-powered behavioral analytics learn normal user and device behavior, using histograms to visualise anomalies for risk-based threat detection, prioritisation, and response. An automated investigation experience across the TDIR simplifies complex workflows, providing a complete threat picture. Whether replacing a legacy product or complementing an existing SIEM solution with user and entity behavior analytics (UEBA) and automation, the Exabeam Security Operations Platform empowers organizations to achieve their security operations objectives.

Conclusion

Data is an invaluable asset for Australian federal, state, and local governments. The IRAP assessment enhances data security by evaluating ICT infrastructures that handle this critical information. Completing the IRAP assessment at the PROTECTED level is a key indicator of Exabeam’s commitment to upholding high data security standards.
