In this episode of The New CISO Podcast, host Steve Moore speaks with Ben Bachmann, Director Group Security and Architecture at Bilfinger. Ben and Steve have a lot in common — they’re both “80% guys”, they’ve both been in trouble for their confidence level, and, most importantly, they’re both podcast hosts. So, why and how should you start your own show? And if cybersecurity were an animal, what would it be? Ben joins Steve to share his outlook on hiring, interviewing, and sourdough bread.

Ben Bachmann
If Ben Bachmann had been around in ancient Troy, the city would still be standing.
Ben sees cybersecurity not just as a technical challenge, but as a holistic concept that aligns people, organizations, and technology. These three pillars form the foundation of a sustainable and vibrant security culture.
Before starting his cybersecurity journey 15 years ago, Ben gained broad experience across IT – from administrator to project manager to service manager. This hands-on background gave him a deep understanding of IT operations and management, enabling him today to build comprehensive and effective security strategies. Currently, he is responsible for cybersecurity and enterprise architecture management across the Bilfinger Group.
Outside of work, Ben is the co-host of the “Infosec Theater Podcast,” where he makes complex cybersecurity topics accessible and entertaining for a wide audience. He also advises startups – helping them not to end up as the next Greek tragedy.
In his spare time, you’ll find him baking whole-grain sourdough bread – another proof of his passion for sustainable, well-crafted processes.
