Phishing is a cybersecurity threat and social engineering tactic that collects private information on the internet. Phishing scams typically use fake websites (emulating financial or eCommerce websites) with altered URLs that resemble the web address of the actual website.
The classic phishing email is one of the most common forms of attack. This form of phishing attempts to create a sense of urgency by tricking users to change their passwords or receive some prize or positive benefit upon sharing user details. Phishing emails may be accompanied by an attachment with messaging that encourages users to open it, causing the attachment to execute and infect the machine with malware.
