On this episode, Steve speaks with Brian Fricke, CISO at City National Bank, about cultivating a “tinkerer’s” mindset for creative problem-solving; the link between listening and leadership, and why getting the job done and getting credit for it don’t always go hand in hand.
Taking Care of Your Mental Health for Your Team’s Benefit
Cybersecurity often involves high-stress situations. The work-life balance and mental health components are just as important. Brian talks about how meditation has benefitted not only him, but how it extends to his team and how it could benefit other CISOs or professionals working in high-stress situations.
Brian and Steve also tackle topics like:
- Leadership and listening
- Acquiring mentors
- Celebrating the small victories
- “Rounding yourself out” early on in your career
