The New CISO Podcast Episode 24: Getting on With the Business of Security, by Building Trust

On this episode, Steve speaks to Deneen DeFiore, CISO of United Airlines, about making the operational AND cultural shift between different businesses in the same industry, and how to get on with security by building trust straight off the bat.

Building Trust

Being able to trust and be trusted by your security team is so essential for any CISO, especially when you’re new and maybe even coming in to clean up a mess from a previous CISO. Working on building that trust should rank high on the CISO’s list of priorities.

Listen in as Deneen and Steve talk trust, as well as:

  • How to demonstrate capability in an industry where results aren’t always immediately tangible
  • Getting the people who control budgets to believe in you as a new leader
  • Balancing the desire to adopt new technology with what the organization needs
  • The advantages of being a “constant learner” as a leader
